| The Velez Organization has had significant experience in sensitive interior Courthouse work. In fact, the Velez Organization received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Supreme Court of the State of New York – Bronx County from then Chief Administrative Judge Justice Burton B. Roberts and Chief Clerk Michael R. Burke which reads in part, “as a tribute to your excellent service to the Court and to the citizens of New York in the Administration of Justice, given with the esteem and friendship of the Court,...,” in connection with our construction management services provided to DASNY and the Courthouse in November of 1997. This work involved various upgrades and modernizations throughout both courthouses, and therefore, we are knowledgeable on a first-hand basis to the complexities of working in the Courthouses.
Our courthouse work includes the $54 million dollar renovation and modernization of the Queens Supreme Courthouse project involved the complete upgrade of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems of the facility – including fully sprinkling the building, and related asbestos abatement. The Queens Courthouse project was also historically significant, involving substantial preservation of existing courtrooms, law library, and artwork throughout the Courthouse. This project was made especially challenging given the fact that the Courthouse is a fully functioning, occupied building, with related Queens County Seat functions.
